Well . . . here's the truth about the PC . . .

The first paragraph is true. The second paragraph is bullshit.

The PC was built as a home machine for the chairman of the board. Shortly after he got the PC home the modem got fried and he couldn't use it to connect to the internet anymore. He gave it to the controller to bring back. I cleaned up the drive and set it in the corner of my office.

Last week this line of PCs (266 MHZ and below) were officially termed "end of life" PCs. The company decided not to offer them for sale. They just wanted them to go away and not cause any future support problems. My course of action was clear.

Some additional ram from another VL was grabbed and a retired (IBM G42) monitor was recalled to service. The keyboard was also an obsolete item. I did install the old 33.6 modem out my retired Dell PC.

On May 9th I purchased an additional 128MB memory stick from Crucial for $44.08. The PC has three memory slots and had one 128MB and two 32MB sticks in it for a total of 192MB. I had to remove a 32MB stick to install the new 128MB stick. So, the total went like this . . . 192MB - 32MB + 128MB for a new total of 288MB.

On May 24th, 2002 I brought and installed another 128MB stick. So now the PC has the total amount of RAM it can have. Total memory now is 384MB. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it !
