I pulled into the pits around 3:30 and needless to say, things were not looking good! The teams were huddled together in trailers and under tents.


At 5:30, after 3 rounds of heavy thunderstorms, the call was made for cars to head out to help with the track drying.



Is he nuts? A slick-tired late model on a wet race track?. Not really, late model veteran Russ Clark suffered a valve-train failure during a practice run on opening day. The car needed track time to make sure it was race ready.

Track general manager Jean LeBlanc turned some laps in the pace car prior to giving the evening's events the green flag.
